Life Cycles Program

Our popular Life Cycles Program is aligned to the Grade 2 and 4 Australian Curriculum. In this workshop students will explore a secret underwater bug world!

By the end of this incursion students will be able to answer:
  • What type of life cycle does a dragonfly have?
  • Why are there so many mosquitoes?
  • What features makes an aquatic invertebrate (waterbug)?
  • What is the extra stage in a complete metamorphosis life cycle?

Students have the opportunity to catch LIVE waterbugs in their very own creek sample as well as use stereo and USB microscopes to examine preserved waterbugs.

Our sessions always conclude with a demonstration on waterway pollution and a discussion on conserving our waterways.

Program duration: 45 - 60 minutes
Maximum number of children per session: 28
Set-up requirements: We require the following resources for this workshop:
  • Access to power
  • Undercover area that can get wet
  • 6 large trestle tables with 4 chairs
Please contact us with any queries about set-up requirements.
